GST Rate Finder by HSN Code

GST basics and toolsRate finderAll schedulesChecked 2 Nov 2026

This gst rate finder lets you type an HSN code or a product name and see the matching entries of the current GST rate schedules for goods, with the schedule, the serial number and the rate. It covers the 5%, 18% and 40% schedules, the special rates for precious metals and stones, and the nil list.

The tool sits just below the key facts box on this page and runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent or stored. Below, you will find how to use it, how to read a result when a code has more than one entry, and the mistakes to avoid. For the slab list itself, see the GST rate list.

How to use the gst rate finder

  1. Type a code, such as 2523, 3401 or 8415 10, or a product word, such as cement, soap or AC.
  2. The finder lists every schedule entry whose code matches the start of what you typed, and every entry whose description contains your words.
  3. Read the schedule label: Schedule I is 5%, Schedule II 18%, Schedule III 40%, Schedule IV 3%, Schedule V 0.25%, the sixth schedule 1.5%, and the nil list 0%.
  4. Check the description in the entry against your product, especially when more than one entry is shown.
  5. Open the product page on this site for codes, invoice examples and rules.

Hsn code search gst rate: reading the result

Many headings have more than one entry. For example, 3401 shows a 5% entry for toilet soap bars and an 18% entry for other soaps. 6109 shows nothing directly, because garments are covered by chapter wide entries for Chapter 61 with a price test. When an entry says "other than" certain goods, those goods are taxed elsewhere. Always read the full description, not just the rate.

Gst rate by hsn code: what the tool cannot tell you

  • Conditions: some entries depend on packing, price per piece or use. The finder shows the condition in the description; you must check it.
  • Later changes: rates on tobacco and pan masala changed after the main notification; the product pages explain such changes.
  • Services: the finder covers goods. For services, see the SAC code hub.
  • Residual rate: goods that no entry names are usually caught by the catch all line at the end of Schedule II, which is 18%.
