HR sheet, CR sheet and GI sheet hsn code
Hot rolled (HR) sheets and plates have a dark, scaled surface and come straight off the hot mill: 7208. Cold rolled (CR) sheets are rolled again at room temperature for a smooth finish: 7209. Once a sheet is coated with zinc it is a GI sheet, and with paint or colour coating a pre painted sheet, both under 7210. All are 18%, so a GI roofing sheet and a CR panel sheet pay the same tax.
MS flat hsn code and narrow strip
Flat-rolled products under 600 mm wide go under 7211 (uncoated) or 7212 (coated). Many MS flats sold for fabrication are 7211. Flats produced as hot rolled bars in a bar mill can fall in 7214 or 7216 instead, so ask your mill which heading its invoice uses and follow the same code when you resell.
Plates cut to size and fabricated parts
